Andrea Walker Winters

Andrea Walker Winters, 67, passed away Friday August 19, 2011 at University Hospital in Salt Lake City.
Andrea was born March 5, 1944 to Lester “Bud” and Elflenda (Barker) Walker in Moab, Utah where she grew up and graduated from Grand County High School. On December 6, 1963 she married Duke Winters in Mesa County Colorado. She had a great love of nature and loved being an amateur archeologist finding rocks that she could make into jewelry. She was known by many as “Mother Nature”. Andrea was a fantastic artist and accomplished potter. Her depicted Native American Art found throughout the Canyonlands and was always purchased shortly after she finished them. She loved hiking, playing cards, and being with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Toby J. Winters, and Gregory L. Winters of Moab; sisters Glenna Ruby, Kenna L. Bridges, Judy Tangreen, LaVona Groff all of Moab, Nancy Knell of Bountiful, Sally Puska of Thornton, Texas; a brother Ronald Walker of West Jordan; 2 granddaughters, Katie and Megan Winters, and long time friend and companion Frank Walden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duke in 1999, and sister Dixie (Pinkey Hawks) Bass.
Funeral Services will be held Friday August 26, 2011 at 10:00 am at the LDS Stake Center of Locust Street. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Spanish Valley Mortuary. Interment will be at the Grand Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the VFW Post 10900 Women’s Auxiliary.
