Vera Louise Sims-Marsing
Born: 4/15/1940, Liberal, Kansas
During the evening hours of Wednesday, February 01, 2012, Louise passed away in the tranquil surroundings of her Moab, Utah home from complications associated with cancer.
Louise was born on April 15, 1940 to parents Kenneth and Lydia (Honey) Bissitt of Liberal, Kansas. Louise lived her childhood years in a variety of states with her Father, brother Kenny and sister Judy. Louise married Marvin Sims in Wichita, Kansas on October 26, 1957, and moved to Moab, Utah in 1960 where Louise and Marvin raised 4 children; Cheryl, Lea Anne, Marvin “Jr.”, and Bruce. Louise and Marvin were married for 46 years before Marvin passed away in 2003.
Louise married Albert Marsing on January 03, 2007 in Moab, Utah.
Louise operated the Moab U-Serve and Moab Grocery Outlet. She also worked for a number of years in real estate, and worked at SIMCO. Louise enjoyed family, friends, hunting, fishing, camping, Lake Powell, and playing card games. Louise traveled when possible, including trips to Hawaii, cruises, and seasonal trips with Albert to Arizona to spend time with friends.
Louise is survived by her husband Albert Marsing (Moab, Utah), sister Judy Burnett (Alma, Arkansas), Children: Cheryl (Kenny) Tangreen (Winnemucca, Nevada), Lea Anne (Steve) Nielson (Elko, Nevada), Bruce Sims (Moab, Utah), 9 Grandchildren, and 6 Great-grandchildren.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Lydia, husband Marvin Sims, son Marvin “Jr.” Sims, brother Kenneth Bissitt, and Great-granddaughter Chloe Sims.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 11, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the Sims Marsing family would greatly appreciate donations to Hospice.
