Douglas Raymond Ward was born March 26, 1946 in Greenville, South Carolina to Joseph Henry Ward and Evelyn Ethel Murphy.

Douglas passed away June 12, 2013 peacefully in his sleep. Doug is survived by his children: Lucenda and Aaron Woodard, Raymie and Joe McKeon and Isaiah and Megan Ward. By his 5 grandchildren: Jace Woodard, Brendon Woodard, Kilee Woodard, Dayson Ward and Elizabeth McKeon. Doug is also survived by his 2 brothers Jerald and James Ward and Sister Sharon McElhaney.

Doug was an incredibly devoted Son, Father, and Brother. He was a wonderful friend, member and server in the community and member of the first Baptist Church of Moab.

Papa Doug is known for his joy of serving others, wild adventures, love of photography, and his amazing Smile. You might say there were three things that Doug firmly believed in: God, Family and the Power of Pepsi. Doug taught by example that it should be easy to give and difficult to receive.

He has blessed the lives of all who knew him and even though we know He is happy and where He wants to be He will be very missed.

Services will be held on Saturday 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. 420 Mivida Dr. Moab, Utah

Tributes

6/24/2013 - I can't remember a time when it didn't brighten my day to see Doug just out of the blue. We always reminisced about his Grandpa Vic and when we lived on Murphy Lane back in the 1950s. He made a point of bringing me some great photos of Vic Murphy. He had a wonderful smile that lit up the life around him. We will all miss him. God rest his soul and give him peace. - Janie Keogh Tuft

6/21/2013 - Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I hope it comforts you to know that he loved you all so much. I am so glad that I did have some visits with him. I enjoyed looking at his pictures, he had so many good ones. - Joyce & Family

6/20/2013 - Everyone that know Doug Loved him. His dedication to his family and church was recognized by all. He will be missed - Eve Brannan

6/18/2013 - Even though we did not get a chance to know this part of the family very well the last year I have corresponded with Douglas through FB and have enjoyed getting to know a cousin that we had only met once before it is a shame that we allow the miles of highway to keep us from being togethr and getting to know each other better. Sharon, Jim, and Jerry please accept my condolances and know that you are on my mind daily and I love you all please know that. Douglas has kept me informed about the family and I have learned alot about my Moab cousins. I know Doug will be missed by all. - Pam McDonald Axson

They Live OnThey Live On

   Those we love remain with us
   For love itself lives on;

   Cherished memories never fade
   Because one loved is gone.

   Those we love can never be
   More than a thought apart;

   For as long as there’s a memory,
   They live on within our heart.
