George Roger Huckins

George “Roger” Huckins, 81, of Moab, Utah died November 8, 2008 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Grand Junction, CO, following a brief illness.
Roger was born on June 8, 1927 in Hanover, New Hampshire to Hazel (Williams) and George Clifton Huckins of Orfordville, New Hampshire. He graduated from Orford High School in 1945. After High School he served in the US Army as a medic during WWII. Following his service he received a degree from the University of New Hampshire. Roger moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico where he worked for the Atomic Energy Commission for many years. Following his retirement, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, then to Moab, where he was a dear friend to many. Roger contributed to his community as a volunteer Grand County Public Library, Moab Music Festival, and Grand Area Mentoring.
He is survived by his sisters Shirley Noyes of Claremont, New Hampshire, Helen Marsh of Fairlee, Vermont, and Barbara White of Tucson, Arizona, several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clayton, and sister Frances Gould.
A memorial service will be held at the Moab Arts and Recreation Center, (111 East 100 North) on Sunday November 16th at 7:00 pm. The family would request that memorial contributions be made on Roger’s behalf to the Grand County Public Library, 257 East Center Street Moab, UT 84532, or to the Moab Music Festival 58 East 300 South Moab, UT 84532.
