Robert D. Tangren age 70 returned home to his Heavenly Father peacefully, surrounded by his family in his home on Saturday January 10, 2015. Bob was born on September 19, 1944 in Moab UT to Bob and Gloria Eberle Carter.

On May 9, 1964 Bob married his sweetheart Naomi Diane Horton, on June 2, 1984 they solemnized their marriage in the Provo UT LDS temple. Bob served his country in the Air force from 1962-1965 he served in Thailand during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1965.. He returned from the service and made their home in Las Vegas, two years later they moved to SLC where Bob received a degree in Welding. Bob had a love for life and for all those around him. He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ, he loved his Savior, his family and his country. He was a simple man, material things did not matter to him. He was kind, gentle and patient with his children and his grandchildren. He loved all those he came into contact with and would give the shirt off his back for anyone who needed it. He loved his horse 'Cocoa' for 31 years, now they are joined together in the heavens, this we know has made him a happy man! Bob had a love for the outdoors, spending time in the mountains with his family, camping and hunting.

Tributes

1/23/2015 - Our families have been friends what seems like forever. Bob and Gloria were great friends with my parents, Norman and Clara Hettman. I was a year older than Bobbie and was good friends with his Sister Cheryl. I appreciated reading Bob's obituary and want to express both my congratulations and condolences to Diane and the rest of her family. It is wonderful that you chose to be and eternal family which probably brings you much peace. It is wonderful that you got to grow old together in Moab, a place we all loved growing up together too. - Leslie Hettman Watson

1/20/2015 - Diane I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear of your loss. I loved our time working together and want you to know how much you tought me. You are an awesome lady!! Bob is blessed to have a woman like you. - Robin Ferguson Day

1/15/2015 - Oh Bob.I haven't seen you in years but remember you so well. A friend, a brother. I still remember those French fries from the truck wreck, the road kill you called me about, so long ago. I always appreciated your wisdom, your character. I wish I'd have kept in touch. I was blessed knowing you. Thank you Bob. Wayne Ruth - Wayne ruth

1/14/2015 - I will remember Bob as a kind, loving man who always had a smile on his face. I know him most as the grandfather to my daughter Charity's children, Brenden, Tayler and Tristan. He always showed love and kindness to them. He had unconditional love for them and they knew that and loved him very much. Bob you will not be forgotten and may your days be sunny and bright with our Father in Heaven as you ride along on Cocoa. - Terry Robinson

They Live OnThey Live On

   Those we love remain with us
   For love itself lives on;

   Cherished memories never fade
   Because one loved is gone.

   Those we love can never be
   More than a thought apart;

   For as long as there’s a memory,
   They live on within our heart.
