Edwin Samuel Munson 1924 – 2014. Ed Munson “Everybody’s Friend” passed away July 3, 2014 at Moab, Utah. Dad was born October 16,1924 in Milo, Idaho to Swen Munson and Carrie Bradshaw. After growing up with adversity on the farm, Dad left to make his way in the world. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 at the age of 18. He spent the majority of WWII in the Aleutian Islands. His military service continued in the Reserves for a total of 42 years. He retired as a CW4 and was awarded the Legion of Merit.

Dad married L Jean Robinson September 6, 1947. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Jean died August 1997 just a couple of weeks short of their 50th anniversary. Dad was blessed with a second companion when he married Wendy McDougald October 6, 2000.

Dad had a varied professional life, but his first love was sales. He worked for Armco Steel, Remington Rand, Sperry, Salt Lake County, and he had his own office machine company. Whether as a job or just because he was the man he was, his was a life of service to his fellowman.

Ed is survived by his wife, Wendy and his children. E. Brent (Joanne) Munson, Kearns, UT; Robert G. (Robyn) Munson, West Jordan, UT; Jeanine Moon, West Jordan, UT; and Renae (Scott) Romney, Sandy, UT. With his marriage to Wendy, he added two more to his list of kids. Eric “Mac” (Alberta) Nelson, Moab, UT; and Stephanie Anderson, Seattle, WA. Of his original family he is survived by his two younger sisters. Helen Jephson, Idaho Falls, ID, and Lenore (Raymond) Jones, Ucon, ID. He leaves 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. The list of his “adopted” kids is too large to number. Once you met Dad, you were his friend and were treated as such.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jean, and his three older brothers, Jack, Harold “Bud”, and Wayne.

As the Savior admonished to love and serve your fellowman, Dad lived this principle. The family would especially like to thank the staff of the Canyonlands Care Center and Dad’s special nurse Paula for the exceptional care Dad received.

They Live OnThey Live On

   Those we love remain with us
   For love itself lives on;

   Cherished memories never fade
   Because one loved is gone.

   Those we love can never be
   More than a thought apart;

   For as long as there’s a memory,
   They live on within our heart.
