MY FAVORITE CHILD By Vera (Norman) Cady 1989
I have a favorite child; He was my first, you see. He wormed his way into my heart, so bright and charming is he.
I felt one favorite was not enough; I had to have another. Two years passed by… then a baby girl was born to this proud mother.
She is my favorite, I must say; My love for her is strong. She, like the rest…. In this mom’s eyes,
Can’t possibly do any wrong! These two favorites were a joy to me
For three and one-half years; Then came along another son that gave me joyful tears.
He is my third child, and second son; How can I be so blessed, to have this precious son to love? Yes, he’s my favorite, yes!
Eight more years I did have, to enjoy these favorites of mine. What happened then: You guessed right, another boy this time.
He’s another favorite, I’ll have you to know; From a beautiful, lovable boy, to a handsome young man he did grow.
After three and one-half years, came another of the feminine gender. She was so very tiny, friends feared I’d never raise her.
She also is my favorite child; I could never love anyone more than this sweet precious, pretty girl. that one cannot but adore. So…. You see, I have got a favorite child; Five…. as a matter of fact. They fill my heart, they give me love;
Any void in my life they counteract.
