Rulon RD Dee Blackburn
Born: 9/10/1962, San Diego, CA
Rulon Dee (RD) Blackburn died peacefully in his home with his loving wife Kim at his side. Throughout his ordeal with cancer, RD was determined to create experiences and memories to the very end. His final goal was to be able to walk in the survivor walked, at Relay for life. Though he did not make it to the relay, he did make it to Aug. 8th and his family and friends walk in his honor.

RD was born in San Diego CA, Sept. 10, 1962 to Albert and Diane Blackburn. He lived most of his life in Carbon and Emery counties, but moved to Moab, when he married Kim on June 10, 2006. RD worked in the mining industry and enjoyed auto detailing, but his love of landscaping was his true calling. RD loved nature and spent the last 3 months camping in the LaSal Mtís where his love of nature abounded. His laughter, joking nature and mischievous smile brought joy to all who knew him.
RD was proceeded in death by: His Father, Mother, and stepfather Billy Schmidt, Mother in law, Helen Jo Youngblood, grandfather, Rulon Dee Blackburn, 3 aunts and an uncle.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kim Holyoak Blackburn, his sons, RD Junior and Albert Blackburn, a daughter Dana Laray, two step sonís Kevin Dale and Jessie Kay Tangreen, two sisters Rulinda Sanderson and Brenda Schmidt, a brother, William (Scooter) Schmidt, nine grandchildren, his father-in-law, Dale Holyoak, four aunts: Karen, Pauline, Debbie and Barb, and an abundance of beloved family and friends and his faithful girls (dogs) Little Ann and Zella.
Services will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Spanish Valley Mortuary, in Moab, followed by a pot luck luncheon at Old City Park.
