George Millard Carmichael passed away on March 7 from heart disease at
the home of his son, Gary. Millard was born on April 24, 1917 in Wetumka,
Okla. to Isaac and Lucy Carmichael. He had four brothers and six sisters.
He married Elsie Baker on October 6, 1937 and they have one son, Gary
Carmichael of Moab. Millard was a trucker and a farmer. He and his family
moved to Moab in 1953 during the uranium boom, and he co-owned a trucking
business with his brother-in-law Grady Thompson. He was preceded in death
by his wife Elsie and parents Ike and Lucy, brothers Lloyd, Hawk, Leonard
and Willard Carmichael, sisters Reba Carmichael, Retha Thompson, Cecil
Dickson, and Betty Giese. He is survived by two sisters, Hazel Thompson
and Louise Caswell. Millard was buried on Saturday March 10 at the Sunset
Memorial Cemetery. He was a wonderful father and father-in-law and will be
missed by Gary and his wife, Judy. He made friends easily and they too
will miss our sweet “Millard”.
