Wilmella Rose Conley was the daughter of Stanley and Iris (DeGrave) Skowbo. She was born on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 1963 at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington D.C. She passed away peacefully at her home in Dana Point, CA on December 11, 2014 after a long battle with cancer, with her family by her side.
When she was four years old her family moved from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Steamboat Springs, CO where they lived for five years, and then moved to Moab, UT where she grew up and learned to love the mountains and Canyon Country. She attended school in Ohio, Arizona, Washington, & California, receiving degrees in Accounting and a BA degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Native American Studies.
On October of 1987 Wilmella married David Conley and together they continued their education, finishing in 1995. Their only daughter Laura Paige was born in November 1994, which started their life as a family. Wilmella home-schooled Laura and stayed at home while they were living in Southern California. She also started a business breeding Birman cats.
Wilmella was an independent, kind, quietly passionate woman with many interests. Most of all she loved learning, adventure, and pursuing a relationship with God.
She is survived by her husband David and daughter Laura; her father and mother Stanley and Iris Skowbo; brothers Gary (Monica), Jim (Sara) and their two daughters Natalie and Chloe of Moab, UT; Niece Cari (Stanford) Buckowich of Flordia; Aunt Amy (John) Frazier, cousin Allan (Karen) of Ohio, and cousin Ethan Frazier of CA; Uncle Larry DeGrave and cousin Julie (Dan) Sabo of Michigan; cousin Eric DeGrave of Tennessee.
Preceding her in death are her maternal and paternal grandparents, and Aunt Elaine DeGrave.
