Frederick Jim James Markle
Born: 1/20/1951, Moab, Utah
Fred Charles Markle and Dorothy McDougald Markle welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Frederick James Markle, into this world on the 20th of January 1951 in Moab, Utah. He grew up in the Moab area. He spent his youth exploring all of the beauty and wonders that surround us.
After graduating from Grand County High School in 1969, Jim joined the U.S. Navy and was sent to the naval academy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for training. His parents received a letter informing them that Jimís scores were unprecedented in the history of the academy in the areas of hydraulics and pumps.
Jim met and married June Holmes in 1970 and to that union were born two handsome boys, Matthew and Nathan Markle. The marriage ended in 1993 and Jim moved back to Moab, from Farmington, New Mexico. In May of 1994, while working as a volunteer at the Moab Music Festival, he met another volunteer, Terry Lynn Morlen, and it was love at first sight for both. Jim and Terry were married on November 10, 1995, in Moab and later sealed at the Monticello Temple for time and eternity.
Jim was a multi-talented person in many fields. During his career he worked in shops as a diesel mechanic and drove oar hauling trucks for several companies in the area. He became licensed as an insurance agent in 1994 and began his career as an agent at the Markle Insurance Agency. A service industry was a perfect place for Jim because he loved people and truly enjoyed serving his clients.
Being involved in the community was also something that Jim truly enjoyed. He was an active member for many years in the Moab Chamber of Commerce, served on the Regional Boy Scouts of America Council and served in many positions in the LDS church. He enjoyed doing volunteer work and particularly loved working the Moab Half Marathon. His favorite part of all of his service was being involved with the youth. He was blessed to serve the youth both in the community and church.
Jim was such a fun, loving and pleasant person that he will be missed by many. His devotion to Jesus Christ and his fellow man was paramount in his life.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Fred Charles Markle, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Terry Morlen Markle, his mother, Dorothy Markle, his sisters Sherry (Dick) Foos of Copley, Ohio, Julie Markle of Dallas, Texas, and Kathie (Roger) Cude of Louisville, Kentucky, his sons Matthew (Sacaunda) Markle and Nathan Markle of Farmington, NM., step daughter Noelle Dowd Leitch of London, England, and his granddaughters, Kirsteen Markle, Kathleen Leitch and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and one great-granddaughter.
