Jay Mitchell Hoffman was born August 22, 1989 in Richmond Virginia to Darren Hoffman and Karen Jarrelle. Jay passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2015 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette Wyoming.

Jay was extremely outgoing, loving, and generous. Jay easily made friends. He would do anything to put a smile on anyone’s face. Jay was a jokester and prankster. Jay loved his family more than anything. Jays love for animals was uncanning, especially for his dogs.

Jays passions included, song writing, and playing his guitar. Fishing and hunting were his favorite outdoor activities. Jay thought he could “out fish” anyone. Jay loved playing pool with his friends, and was nicknamed “Great White” because of his pool shark capabilities.

Jay recently proposed to his girlfriend Kayla Cornelius. He was so happy to start a family with Kayla and her two beautiful daughters Annazailya Grace and Abigail Bailee. Jay spent many years working alongside his father doing construction for Jackman Construction, as well as production and maintenance for Viper Energy.

Jay traveled to Virginia several times to be with his mom, sister and family, whom he cherished dearly.

Jay is survived by his parents: Darren Hoffman (New Mexico) Karen Jarrelle (Virginia) Sister Heather Hoffman (Virginia) Grandparents: Jim Hoffman (Utah) Olin and Hallene Glover (New Mexico) Vicki Bowman (David Pate) and Craig Elder, (both from Virginia) Aunts and Uncles: Tamela and Perry Getchell (Utah) James J. Hoffman (Utah) Craig Elder, James Elder, Raymond Bullock, Jack Bullock, Jody Howell, Missy Green ( All from Virginia) Cousins: Nicole and Daniel Cruth (Wyoming) Bradley Getchell (Colorado) Bryon and Jennifer Getchell (Utah) and Maddie Elder (Virginia) FIance Kayla Cornelius (Wyoming) and his two favorite little girls Annazailya and Abigail.

Jay is preceded in death by: Uncle James Mitchell Hoffman, Great Grandparents, James and Dorothy Hoffman, Forrest and Bettie Wray, and Hall and Irene Thorne. Cousin, Bill Farnsworth.


9/27/2015 - I love you so much Jay. You will always be in my heart and by my side. You are my best friend and my soul mate. We will meet again someday. Fly high and watch over us all. We will all miss you and I will forever be your "cute little buddon". Rest in Paradise Baby. <3 - Kayla
