Paul Layton Truett

Born: 8/6/1932, Wapanucka, Oklahoma
Death: 2/6/2016, Avondale, Arizona
Service: 02/13/2016, 2:00 pm, Spanish Valley Mortuary

Paul Layton Truett passed away in his home in Avondale, AZ on Sunday February 6, 2016 after a prolonged illness.

He was born August 6, 1932 in Wapanucka,OK to William Layton Truett of Wapanucka and Era McNutt of Itaska, TX. Like all the Truetts' he had an unending love of fishing. He and the family spent many hours on the bank of a beautiful lake catching the big one.

He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a wounded war veteran.

He made his obsession for semi trucks into his life's career as a cross country truck driver. He was deservedly proud of his life-long driving record of millions of miles with no accidents. He loved to tell his trucking stories and the taste of a big cigar. He was quite the jokester and always pulling pranks on someone.

His passion was his family, especially his beloved wife Josephine "Jo". Not only was she his soul mate and constant companion but during his last years his loving caregiver.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his 2 sisters Renda Jean Hotchkiss & Billie Ruth Smith and Billie's son Wesley Farmer. His first wife Ora Marie.

He is survived by his dear little wife Jo; 4 Stepsons Narshel & Doraleen (McComb) Day, Marvin & Bobbie (Stewart) Day, Melvin & Former wife Angela (Martinez) Day, Randy & Crystal (Cortes) Day, Twelve Grandchildren and Twenty Two Great Grandchildren. His brother-in-law William Hotchkiss; niece Teri Jean Hotchkiss & husband Allan Jackson, their son Jason & Jason's daughter Hailey Jean, Jason's partner Dustie and children Aubrey, Johnathan, Kaitlyn, Evan & Ryleigh; niece Julie Lynn Hotchkiss & her daughter Keri Lynn & Keri's son Dakota Michael & Keri's partner Michael, and Julie's son Dustin William & Dustin's son Jacob & Dustin's partner Melonie & children Josh & Carolyn.

They Live OnThey Live On

   Those we love remain with us
   For love itself lives on;

   Cherished memories never fade
   Because one loved is gone.

   Those we love can never be
   More than a thought apart;

   For as long as there’s a memory,
   They live on within our heart.
