Born: 5/7/1958, Columbus, Ohio Moab, Utah –Kyle Copeland, 51, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at a Rock Canyon Rehabilitation Facility in Provo, Utah. Kyle was born on May 7, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio to Charles Herbert and Jeannine Marianne (Good) Copeland. He started to attend college in New York and later Boulder, Colorado studying computers. Kyle loved being in the outdoors where rock climbing became his passion. Boulder and Moab became Kyle’s climbing hubs and he moved to Moab, Utah in 1989. He studied Geology to go along with his love for rocks, and worked with Geological studies group in Moab and was also a rock climbing guide. He opened some areas with his first climbs in these two places. His rock climbing influenced and brought many climbing buddies throughout the world to the Moab and Boulder areas. Surviving are his parents Charles and Jeannine Copeland of Charleston, South Carolina; two sisters Shellon Copeland of Reston, Virginia, and Kandel Eaton Charleston, South Carolina; 2 nephews and 1 niece,and a lot of beloved longtime friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Captain Thomas C. and Elsa Good, and Orman A. and Lela F. Copeland. At Kyle’s request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in his honor with in the next couple of weeks in Moab, Utah.
