Claude William Lawson

Born: 2/27/1962, Upland, California
Death: 4/27/2019, Moab, Utah
Service: 05/11/2019, 12:00 pm, Lawson Shop 210 East Old Airport Road

Claude William Lawson passed away on 04/27/2019 at the age of 57 at his home in Moab, UT. Claude was born 02/27/1962 to Richard Lawson Jr and Kathryn (Johnson) Lawson in Upland, Ca.

Claude spent most of his youth in California, but later his family relocated to Grand Junction, CO where he graduated high school. Claude married Marcie MacTaggart in 1982 and they were blessed with 3 sons, Christopher, Noah, and Alek. They raised their family in Moab, Ut and later divorced.

Claude owned a very successful construction business (Lawson Construction, Inc) and was well respected in his trade. There was really nothing he couldn’t do. He was an honest, hardworking man. A handshake and your word meant more to him than anything on a piece of paper. Claude was passionate about cars and loved to build custom hotrods that he would later turn for a profit. He could typically be found at his shop building and tinkering on old cars. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, boating, and traveling with friends and family.

Claude was an amazing person with an infectious smile that loved life and all living things. He was a lover of animals and if you were lucky enough to be his dog, you were living the life of a king. He had many great friends that enjoyed his company as he was the life of the party, and he had a great presence. He helped many in need with no expectations in return.

Nothing brought Claude more satisfaction, frustration, and joy than his three sons. He loved them with all he had, and was so proud of all of their accomplishments. He taught them the construction trade and they all are talented concrete layers. Most importantly, he taught them to enjoy the good things in life and be an honest and hard worker.

Claude was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lawson Jr. He is survived by his 3 loving sons, Christopher B Lawson, Noah M Lawson, and Alek S Lawson, Granddaughter Sophie Sue Lawson, Mother Kathryn Lawson, brother Kevin Lawson, his beloved dogs Josie and Charlie, and many great friends.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life in honor of Claude on Saturday May 11th, 12 pm at the Lawson shop, 210 Old Airport Rd, Moab, UT. “It takes a REAL man to be called Claude”

Tributes:

Dear Family of Mr. Lawson,
I am so sorry for your loss. May God’s promise bring you comfort. There will be “a new earth... and He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore... I am making all things new.” Revelation 21:1-5
- D. Hetrick

I first met Claude in 2009 when a friend recommended his work by referring to him as “the most honest person in Moab.” After a couple of projects, I no longer bothered to get bids from anyone else, as it was obvious that Claude would do the best work at a reasonable cost. He transformed my home and property, came to my rescue numerous times, and was infinitely patient when I would change my mind six times in five minutes. He wasn’t prone to voice his opinion, but gave excellent advice when prodded, and it was a pleasure to spend time with him. I will miss not only his expertise and creative talent, but also his gentle humor and valued friendship. His exit from this world was entirely too early, and he leaves behind a too-large hole that cannot be filled. RIP, Claude - we miss you.

They Live OnThey Live On

   Those we love remain with us
   For love itself lives on;

   Cherished memories never fade
   Because one loved is gone.

   Those we love can never be
   More than a thought apart;

   For as long as there’s a memory,
   They live on within our heart.
