He started talking about all the places we travelled and all the things we accomplished in our 6 short years of marriage. I asked him if he had anything else he would like to do on this Earth. He said “No baby, I am tired of the pain”.I told him to sleep sweetly with the Angels, and he said “Baby, you are my Angel” I said, then sleep with me. Somewhere between 5:30 am and 5:50 am, I woke up and he didn’t. He will forever be My Cowboy, My Everything, and I’ll forever be his Angel. James Earle Nash was born in Moab, at Allen Memorial Hospital to Alvin Erwin Nash II and Frances Louise Thornton on August 7, 1957. James, aka Jimmy, Jim Nash was a very loving, kind and caring man. He loved his family, his community, his job, and never knew a stranger. In the spring of 1981 James met Belinda Brown and with her came 2 little boys. John 4 years old and soon to be Lil James in the fall of 1981. He was very honored and proud to fulfill his dream of being a dad and he reared up 2 wonderful sons. In 1983 James had a calling to serve his community and he joined the Moab Valley Fire Department of which he remained a member for 41 years. Often times he was asked why he stayed on the department so long and his answer always was, “I Love my Brothers and Sisters and the Brotherhood that I belong too. James had lots of occupations through the years, but his last one of nearly 25 years was being a meat cutter at our local market. He had 19 years at Village Market in Moab. He loved all of his Village Market family. He was so filled with love and pride when the owners would come into the store and seek him out. James loved all animals. domestic and wild. He had a few pets through the years. He joined Grand County Search and Rescue and was an active member for many years. He eventually got a long haired german shepherd who was born in Germany and named him Jarman, and he trained him to be a rescue/search dog. Jarman was an integral part of his life. James loved his family, he was so excited to become a dad, a papa and a great papa just 2 years ago. James loved to hunt, camp, draw, paint and was a wonderful carpenter. He loved his guns and took pride in each one of them. James always talked fondly of his brothers and baby sister. He would reminisce about his oldest brother Alvin being a Marine and an Eagle Scout and always held high admiration of him. Every time we seen a gas tanker truck on our many journeys, he would say, I wonder where my brother Terry is delivering fuel today. He would occasionally call him and they would talk about horses, guns, hunting, and YouTube videos, and their combined love of country music. Last but not least, James would say “Let’s call my sister Yvonne, I haven’t heard from her in a few days. So we would call her and Larry and and chat about goats, kitties, horses, and just about everything. He spoke highly of his family and his friends. When we met new people, he would want to show them around places, and we went on some new adventures, with some new friends. James fulfilled so many things in his life that I could literally write a book. James Nash and I have been best friends for 45 years. TRIBUTES Madge I was sad to hear of your man's passing. He and I talked a lot at the store. Discussing and cussing our aches and pains. Now that is over for him. My thoughts are with you from out in Nevada.- Dodie Jimmy and I grew up together in La Sal and went to school together. He was always a great friend. I was glad to meet back up with him again years ago at the village market. I always looked to see if he was working so I could give him a hug, say hi and just chat with him. My Man Mike met Jimmy a few years ago and Mike always visited him, we would see him and Madge in town some place and made sure to say hi and visit. He will be missed by so many. He was the kindest person I know. I will miss seeing him and miss the little visits. Rest with God now and no more pain. We will be here for Madge always.
