d: 03/28/2025, Moab, Utah Service: 04/04/2025, 11:00 am La Sal Cemetery OBITUARY Larry Patrick Hawley, 77, of Lasal, Utah passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025 in Moab, Utah. He was born on November 28, 1947 in Riverside, California. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Larry graduated from Golden High School in Golden Colorado class of 1966. Immediately following graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a weapons specialist working on the F-111 Aardvark jets. During his time he saw combat in Vietnam, Korea and several other countries during his 12 years of active duty service. He married the love of his life and lifetime partner of Phyllis (Peterson) Hawley on Dec 19, 1975. Forty nine years later and they were seldom seen apart. They had a love we all could admire. Larry worked as a Ford master mechanic for Ford for 30 years before retiring. The retirement did not last long because no grass was growing under those feet. He worked for Provo River Constructors for a little over two years then retired, but again that did not last long. He returned to the auto industry and worked as a claims manager for Elite auto Warranty. He loved being able to use his knowledge of automobiles in a less physical setting. Larry loved the outdoors, horses, hunting, and most of all cooking. He was a true mountain man and made his own clothing, firearms and Native American flutes. He loved to share his knowledge and teach people the ways of the old west. He was one person you could count on for an extra hand doing any job. Between raising his family he had open arms to everyone and many knew (uncle)Larry as a second father. He just wanted to be there for everyone. He moved to Lasal Utah in 2023 and along side his son built a home in this magical place. He enjoyed volunteering at the food bank in several of the small towns around. He kept a schedule just like before, he was extremely active at the senior center and enjoyed many many many adventures with Phyllis exploring a region of red rock and pine trees. He loved to hike and take pictures. Been told he knew more places than some locals. His love for the outdoors and family and keeping mom happy was what he thrived upon. He stayed busy helping maintain the property and took pride. Everyone knew his love of this country and freedom in everything he did. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Hawley, his daughter Sharon Hawley of Rogers Arkansas, his son Patrick Dean Hawley (Connie Cook) of Lasal Utah. His Brothers Gaylord Hawley of Lake George, New York. Dean Hawley of Golden Colorado. His grandchildren Krystal Anderson, Tyler Lewis, Chase Lewis, Cody Hawley and his great grandchildren Remington and Flynn Anderson. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were blessed to have gotten to know him He is preceded in death by his dad Berant Lewis Hawley, his mother Doris Noorlin Hawley, his brother Dennis Kittelson. We are sure he is sharing an afternoon martini with his parents.
