They Live OnThey Live On

   Those we love remain with us
   For love itself lives on;

   Cherished memories never fade
   Because one loved is gone.

   Those we love can never be
   More than a thought apart;

   For as long as there’s a memory,
   They live on within our heart.

OBITUARY

It is never easy to say goodbye to someone who has been such an important part of our lives, it is with great sadness that we share our beloved father and grandfather David William Severns known to many as “Spank”, 77, passed away on 8/31/24 in his home in Moab as the result of an ongoing battle with cancer. David was married to Delores. They shared 53 years together and were married for 51 years, that was something David liked to share.

Born in Mt Pleasant, Michigan, David was the son of Joseph and Dorothy Severns. David graduated from Grand County High School before enlisting in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. After discharging from the Army, David spent 17 years working at Rio Algam, a uranium mine. David spent the remainder of his career at Lisbon Valley Gas Plant and retired as a shop manager after 22 years.

David was a man of many talents. Throughout his years David was known for playing the bass and singing, he had a wonderful voice. In his spare time and into his retirement he enjoyed electrical work, plumbing, carpentry and mechanics. David’s skills proved useful as he and Delores maintained and enjoyed a beautiful home in Moab together for almost 30 years. David loved hunting deer and elk and fishing whenever he could. A lover of sweet treats, David enjoyed cookies, cake, candy, you name it.

David is survived by many loving family members including his wife Delores, daughters Michelle Severns-Corbin, Rosa Greub (spouse Tony) sons Gilbert Salazar, sisters Karen Coursey, Gloria Miller, nine grandchildren Shane Engle, Ryan Engle, Shawn Pilibosian, Lakota Greub, John Corbin, Juan Salazar, Miranda Corbin, Sheyenne Greub, Jimmy Corbin and five great grandchildren.

David was preceded in death and has joined his son David Joe Severns, and his parents Joseph and Dorothy Severns in Heaven.

There will be a viewing at Spanish Valley Mortuary in Moab, Utah, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 6pm to 8pm. There will be another viewing Monday, September 9, 2024, from 10am to 11am with funeral services following at 11am.

May David William Severns rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to bring laughter and warmth to the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and love him.
